MCP - how to connect Retino to an AI assistant

Connect Retino to ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant that supports MCP.

Written by Pavel Jordán

You can connect Retino MCP to ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants that support MCP. Enter the address provided by Retino, then confirm which e-shop and data the assistant can access.

Note: You need the appropriate permissions in Retino to create the connection. If you do not have them, contact the administrator of your e-shop account.

Find the MCP address in Retino

  1. Open Settings → MCP in Retino.

  2. Click Copy.

The highlighted button copies the MCP server address to your clipboard. You will paste it into the AI assistant's settings.

Choose your AI assistant

Continue with the detailed guide for connecting ChatGPT to Retino or connecting Claude to Retino.

Connect another AI assistant

In the assistant's settings, find a section named MCP, Connectors, Apps, Plugins or Tools. Add a new remote MCP server, name it Retino MCP and paste the address you copied in the previous step.

Authorize access in Retino

Before you confirm the connection, Retino shows the application name, its Client ID and Redirect URL. The Client ID identifies the application; it is not a password or access token. The Redirect URL determines where your browser returns after access is approved.

Warning: Continue only if you started the connection yourself and recognize the AI assistant. A web-based assistant normally redirects to its own domain. An installed application may use 127.0.0.1 or localhost, which redirects back to the application on your computer.

  1. Sign in to Retino in the window opened by the AI assistant.

  2. Check the application and its Redirect URL.

  3. Select the e-shop you want to connect.

  4. Choose the level of access. Allow sensitive customer data only if you need it for your work.

  5. Confirm the connection.

The AI assistant now has access only to the selected e-shop and permitted data. Retino MCP does not give it your sign-in details or any data you did not allow.

The image highlights the optional access to sensitive data, the e-shop selection and the Authorize button. The button becomes available after you select an e-shop.

Check the connection

In a new conversation, enter:

Example prompt for your AI assistant

Using Retino MCP, tell me which e-shop and products I can access.

If the connection is ready, the AI assistant returns the e-shop name and the available parts of Retino.

If the connection does not work

  • The option to add a custom MCP connection is missing: check whether your plan in the AI assistant supports custom MCP connections.

  • Retino does not let you authorize access: check the selected e-shop and the account currently signed in. Ask the administrator of the e-shop's Retino account to verify your permissions.

  • The connection stopped working: disconnect it in Retino, delete the connector in the AI assistant and create the connection again.
