Practical Use Cases

Use Case 1: Monitoring Inactive Shipments

Situation: You want to identify shipments that have been inactive for a long time.

Solution:

  1. Create a label "Inactive Shipment"

  2. Set up automation:

    • Trigger: Shipment inactive for 5 days

    • Action: Add label "Inactive Shipment"

  3. Optional: When the shipment becomes active again, set up another automation to remove the label

Use Case 2: Monitoring Problematic Shipments

Situation: You need to track shipments with repeated delivery attempts.

Solution:

  1. Create a label "Repeated Delivery"

  2. Set up automation:

    • Trigger: Status change to "Failed Delivery - Missed"

    • Action: Add label "Repeated Delivery"

Use Case 3: Tagging Expiring Shipments

Situation: You want to identify shipments approaching their storage expiration date in time.

Solution:

  1. Create a label "Near Expiration"

  2. Set up automation:

    • Trigger: 2 days until storage expiration

    • Action: Add label "Near Expiration"

  3. Automatically remove the label after the shipment is picked up using another automation

Combining with Other Automation Elements

Label actions can be effectively combined with:

  • Various triggers and conditions (see automation guide)

  • Other automation actions (e.g., sending an email)

  • Filters in the shipment list and analytics

Tip: Before creating label automation, ensure that your labels are correctly set up. For more information on creating and managing labels, see the label guide.

Best Practices

  • Use clear and consistent label names

  • Document your set up automations

  • Regularly check if automations are working as expected

  • Remember to set up automations to remove labels when they are no longer relevant

  • Combine labels with analytical tools to evaluate process efficiency

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use multiple label actions in one automation?

Yes, you can combine adding and removing different labels within a single automation.

What happens if I try to add a label that the shipment already has?

Nothing will happen; the system ensures that the label is not duplicated.

How can I see which automations added labels to a shipment?
