The email designer is used to configure the appearance and branding of emails. You can find settings for the content of specific emails, sending conditions, and triggers in the Automatic Email Sending section.
The email designer in Retino allows you to create professional-looking email templates for communicating with customers. Using the designer, you can set a uniform appearance for all automatic emails that Retino Tracking sends to your customers.
Email Template Management
Email templates define the basic appearance and style of your emails. Within a single account, you can have multiple templates—for example, different templates for individual e-shops or different types of communication. Each template can have its own appearance, branding, and settings.
Working with Concepts
The system uses a concept publishing system for safe template editing. Whenever you edit a template, you are actually working on a copy of it (the concept). This allows you to safely test changes without affecting live operations. Once you've completed the edits and testing, you can publish the concept—this will reflect your changes in all other emails that use this template. The system automatically deletes unsaved concepts after 30 days of inactivity.
Email Sections
An email template consists of several separate sections. You can independently edit each section and also turn them on or off as needed. This gives you flexibility in which information appears in which email.
Email Header
The header is the first thing a customer sees in the email. It typically includes your company logo and can be supplemented with a banner containing additional graphics.
Main Content
The main content of the email consists of the subject line and the message body. The editor provides formatting tools similar to those in standard text editors. You can also insert variables that are automatically replaced with specific shipment or order details during sending.
Tracking Button
The tracking button redirects the customer to the carrier's Track & Trace page. You can customize the button text and color as needed.
Information Box
The information box highlights important information in the email. You can use it, for example, to display the delivery date, pickup instructions, or other important notifications. The box can be styled with custom background and text colors to visually match your email design.
The information box display can be configured in three ways:
Global settings - In the email template designer, you can use a toggle to specify the display of the information box in the settings. If you activate the box, it will appear in all emails using the template.
Settings for specific automatic emails - Even if the information box is disabled in the template, you can enable its display for selected automatic emails in their individual settings.
Combined display - If the information box is activated both in the template and in the automatic email settings, both boxes will be displayed simultaneously.
Product Section
This section displays information about the products in the shipment. It typically includes product names, quantities, and prices. This section helps customers easily identify which shipment has arrived, which is particularly useful if they have multiple active orders.
Delivery Information
The delivery information section displays the delivery address or drop-off location details. If the delivery is to a drop-off location, you can also display opening hours and other relevant information for picking up the package here.
Footer and Signature
The email footer typically includes your company's contact information and other important links. You can include links to social media, terms and conditions, and other important documents here.
Link Type | Description | Recommended Placement |
Contact Information | Website, phone, email | Beginning of the footer |
Social Media | Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube | Below contact information |
Documents | Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Return Policy | End of the footer |
Global Appearance Settings
In addition to configuring individual sections, you can also adjust the global appearance of the email. These settings apply to the entire email and help maintain a consistent look across all sections.
Setting | Options | Usage |
Template Name | Any text | Internal template organization (not displayed in any emails) |
Background Color | Any color | Main email background |
Element Rounding | None / Mild / Medium / Strong | All boxes and buttons |
Attachments and Banners
You can add default attachments to the email template that will automatically be included with every email using this template. This is useful, for example, for attaching general terms and conditions or return instructions.
Banners at the top of the email can be used for promotional messages or important announcements. You can set different versions for different languages and also specify a link that the banner will redirect to when clicked.
Language Versions
All text elements in the template can be set up in multiple language versions. The system automatically selects the correct language version based on several criteria in this order:
Language set in the order
Shipment delivery country
E-shop's default language
Testing and Preview
Before publishing the template, it's crucial to thoroughly test its appearance and functionality. The designer offers several testing tools:
Live Preview
During template editing, you can see the resulting email in real-time. You can preview it in various sizes corresponding to common devices (desktop, tablet, mobile). You can also switch between different language versions and verify the correct display of all texts.
Test Emails
For final verification, you can send a test email to your address. Test emails allow you to:
Check the actual display in different email clients
Verify the correct display of all language versions
Test responsive design on real devices
Check the functionality of all links and buttons
Connecting with Automatic Emails
After creating and testing the template, you can use it as a basis for various types of automatic emails. In the settings of each email action, you can then:
Customize specific texts for a given message type
Select which template sections to display
Add additional attachments specific to the email type
