Complete guide to creating emails in AI Email Editor. If you have not worked with the editor yet, first read AI Email Editor (Beta).
Recommended Workflow
Select a template – start with a pre-made template or from scratch
Upload logo – attach logo and ask AI to add it to the header
Edit structure – add or remove sections as needed
Set colors – change color scheme to your brand colors
Add banners – upload promo graphics or leave placeholders for later
Fine-tune details – adjust texts, spacing, font sizes
Generate translations – in Translations modal click "Fill missing"
Set localized images – in Images modal upload versions for different languages
Test – send test email and check in all scenarios and languages
How to Communicate with AI
Start with a Clear Vision
Before you start writing, clarify:
What type of email are you creating? (shipping notification, order confirmation...)
What style do you want? (minimalist, colorful, premium...)
What information is most important? (tracking number, delivery status...)
Be Specific
Compare these two requests:
Bad: "Make it prettier"
Good: "Use a gradient background from light blue (#e0f2fe) to white, add subtle shadows to buttons, and increase the main heading to 28px"
Work Step by Step
Do not try to do everything at once:
First create the basic structure
Then edit individual sections
Finally fine-tune details (colors, fonts, spacing)
Use References
AI knows the style of popular brands:
"Make it in Amazon style"
"Get inspired by Apple emails"
"Similar style to what Shopify has"
Ask AI About Possibilities
"What order data can I display?"
"What sections are in this email?"
"How can I show different content for different delivery statuses?"
Working with Images
Placeholder Images
When you ask AI to add a logo, banner, or other image and do not attach your own image, AI will use a placeholder image. This allows you to see how the section will look and replace the image later.
Example:
"Add a logo space in the header" → AI creates a section with a placeholder image
"Add my logo to the header" + attached image → AI uses your image directly
Replacing a Placeholder
You can replace a placeholder anytime:
Upload the image to the chat (drag and drop or Ctrl+V)
Write: "Replace the placeholder logo with this image"
Working with Banners
Without image: "Add a promo banner below the header" → AI uses a placeholder
With image: "Add this banner below the header" + attached image → AI uses your banner
Images by Language
If you have images with text (banners, promo graphics), you can set different versions for different languages.
How to do it:
All images you upload to the template automatically appear in the Images modal
Click the Images button in the editor toolbar
For each image set different versions for each language
When the email is sent, the correct version is automatically used based on customer language
Example:
You have a banner "Free shipping over 1000 CZK" in Czech. In the Images modal you upload the English version "Free shipping over €40" and German "Kostenloser Versand ab 40€". The customer then automatically sees the banner in their language.
Translations
AI creates templates with specially marked texts that can be translated. Translations are not created automatically – you must generate them in the Translations modal.
Process:
Create/edit template using AI
Click the Translations button in the toolbar
You will see overview: total texts, missing, outdated
Click Fill missing to translate new texts
After changing original texts, click Update outdated
You can also edit individual translations manually
Important: After each template change, do not forget to check and update translations.
Importing an Existing Design
Screenshot as Inspiration
Take a screenshot of an email you like
Drag the image into the chat or use Ctrl+V
Write: "Create an email similar to this, but with our branding."
Import HTML Code
Save the HTML code of an existing email to a file
Attach the file to the chat
Write: "Convert this email to an editable template."
Combine Multiple Designs
Upload screenshots of several emails
Write: "Combine the best elements – header from the first, products from the second, footer from the third."
Example Requests
Creating a Template
"Create a modern shipping notification email. Minimalist design, white background. Logo space in header, below it large tracking number and delivery status, address section and button to track shipment. Blue #2563eb for buttons."
Adding a Banner
With placeholder: "Add a promo banner below the header"
With image: "Add this banner below the header" + attached image
Conditional Content
"Modify the main message based on delivery status:
- In transit: 'Your package is on its way!'
- Delivered: 'Your package has been delivered!'
- At pickup point: 'Package waiting for pickup'"
Pickup Points
"If it is a pickup point delivery, show below the address the pickup point name and opening hours."
Order Products
"Add a section with products. For each show image on the left (60x60px), on the right name, variant and price. Below the list show subtotal, shipping and total price."
Troubleshooting
Result Is Not As Expected
Be more specific: "The button is too small, increase it to 48px"
Ask: "What exactly did you change?"
AI Changes Things It Should Not
Specify: "Change only the button color, do not change anything else"
Reference section: "In the address section change the font to Arial"
AI Does Not Understand
Rephrase the request more simply
Split into smaller requests
Attach an image as a reference
Generation Takes a Long Time
When creating from scratch it can take up to a minute – this is normal. Smaller edits are faster (a few seconds).
Limitations
Interactive elements – emails cannot contain forms, JavaScript or animations
Custom fonts – email clients only support basic fonts (Arial, Georgia, Verdana...)
Complex layouts – due to compatibility, layout options are limited
Data outside Retino – AI only has access to data in the Retino system
